Saint Andrew's Church , Alfriston , East Sussex , England.
This section drawing of Saint Andrew's Church,Alfriston, was drawn by hand,36 years ago in my first year as a student, while studying at Brighton University School of Architecture, in England.
It was a history project assignment to survey and draw a local church and to convey the essence of it's architecture by capturing the atmosphere of it's enchanting space.
The section took 300 hours to complete and was drawn at 1 to 50 scale using Rotring Isograph pen's with black ink, onto Bockingford Watercolour board.
The Church was built in the 1370's in Alfriston,a small country village located in East Sussex,England.
The timber roof inside the church is one of it's most special features constructed with tie beams and crown posts made from Chestnut wood.
In 2017 the author Bill Bryson named Saint Andrew's Church,Alfriston,4th place in his own list of top 14 favourite Churches to have visited, while travelling around the United Kingdom.
