Can I log in with my existing Architizer username & password?

Even if you already have an account on Architizer, you will need to create a new One Drawing Challenge-specific login to enter. To get started click here.

What file types can I submit?

Each file uploaded should be a maximum size of 20mb file size and must be SQUARE format. JPGs, PNGs and PDFs are acceptable. For image quality we recommend an image size of at least 2000 x 2000 pixels at 72 dpi.

What dimensions should my drawing have?

Submit 1 image with SQUARE proportions to fit our Instagram feed. There can be white space left around the edges, but the overall dimensions of your “canvas” should be square. Please conform to these proportions as it will enable your drawing to be easily incorporated into the “One Drawing” eBook, in the event that your entry is shortlisted as a Finalist.

What type of drawings can be submitted?

Your drawing(s) can take the form of a plan, section, elevation, perspective, sketch or abstract. As long as it portrays part or all of a building or group of buildings, it is eligible. It can be located anywhere in the world and be at any scale. You are welcome to submit a collage as long as the entire image remains square.

Can I submit more than one drawing?

Yes! You can submit as many drawings as you like but each counts as a separate entry with its own entry fee.

Can my drawing be of an existing building or buildings?

Yes. Your drawing can illustrate a new architectural proposal or existing piece of architecture. It should capture the experience of those that would inhabit it in some way.

Can I use software or does the drawing have to be hand-drawn?

Software can be used, but the image should be identifiable as a drawing. Hand-drawn or CAD-generated sketches, perspectives, plans, sections and elevations are all eligible. Renderings or any image too closely resembling a photographic representation are not eligible. The Architizer team will use its discretion to judge eligibility and reserves the right to disqualify entries.

How will my drawings be judged?

Submissions will be judged online according to three key criteria: Communication, aesthetics and impact. Definitions of those 3 terms can be found on the judging criteria page.

Can multiple people submit a drawing as a team?

Yes! Teams of up to four can submit an entry. One person in the team must be designated the “team leader”. In the event a team wins, prize money will be given to the team leader and they will be responsible for distributing the prize among their team members.

How can I be sure you have received my entry?

You see a confirmation page noting your entry number and will also receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your entry. If you do not receive an email confirmation within 24hrs, please email competitions@architizer.com.

Can I withdraw my entry? Will I get a refund?

You may withdraw your entry by emailing competitions@architizer.com. Refunds WILL be issued for entries that are withdrawn within 48 hours of being submitted. Refunds WILL NOT be issued for entries withdrawn after 48 hours of being submitted.

Do I have to be based in the United States to participate?

No. The Architizer One Drawing Challenge is a global awards program.

I just graduated. Can I enter as a Student?

Yes — Class of 2019 students that just graduated or are about to graduate can enter as Students. Please use your student email address as this will help us verify your status with your University in the event that you are selected as a Winner.

Does the entry description need to be in English?

Yes. In order to ensure our judges are able to review and score your work we require your descriptions to be submitted in english.

Is judging anonymous?

Yes. The entrant’s identity will not be revealed to the public during public voting, nor to the jurors during juror voting.

Do I need to be an architect to enter?
