Exode Arch
-You Cant Go Home Again
Fear of the unknown, unfamiliar, and strange has shaped modern politics and been a tool critical to the form-making of the upstate New York sub-county: Subsullivan. By issuing this landmark into the collective unconscious, the Post-Historic Landmark Commission intended to remind residents of their shared humanity and inherent ability to empathize with those in need. The arch acts as a reminder that most current residents are the descendants of émigrés or are themselves recent settlers of the sub-county. The arch represents that unforeseen acts, natural or man-made, can drive any individual from their home in pursuit of happiness. Furthermore, those acts could very well affect Subsullivan County, and if they should the Exode Arch will stand ready as a final farewell, a small eddy in the momentum of humankind northwards.
