The rising tides swallow islands whole. War desolates the lands that refugees and immigrants called home, fleeing to parts unknown and leaving behind everything they once knew as their own. As space is becoming limited in populous cities, humans have built vertically to utilize what space we have left, so why not reach for the sky a bit higher? Technology seems uncertain as to what direction it’ll go; alas, this is but a romanticist’s ideal future for preserving the cultures of both people and flora alike. To keep a piece of soil one calls “home” is not only an act of retaining a piece of oneself, but a means of archiving history. Within this lies the freedom to not be “bound by the earth”, in ways that allow for exploration and interaction with others across all lands. Wherever the wind may blow, “home” will follow wherever one may be.
