Architectural Collage No.8 - Past & Present
The story behind this piece is to present an ambiguous interpretation of architectural elements from the past and present; it is a collage of layering objects. It is an exercise in experimentation and abstraction using contextual diagramming, planimetric diagramming, structural diagramming and the use of color.
For the contextual and planimetric diagramming of spatial elements, it was significant to define the past for the collage, it was important to fix a location (Italy) and time in Architectural History (Roman and Renaissance) to the composition.
Structural diagramming for the collage is an generalization of modern steel forms. Extracting these elements out of their context and re purposing their function as aesthetic forms.
The color palette is an experiment in visual sensation with the overlaying of colors that fade into
dark ; to be interpreted as outer space; a topographic point of the unknown for future architects to design to.
