"The shattered scale" by Ritika Narang
The drawing comments about the evolution of cities over time and showcases imaginary future possibilities due to the human scale violation.
The traditional city circle was designed concerning human communication distances, proportions, and health, setting as a benchmark for rest movements. However, over time, the roads and the building dimensions have been magnified continuously to meet the city's growing needs and discarding the human proportions.
Projection of a dystopian future is shown; Road networks and buildings are rebuilt over to make the city function. Skyscrapers look like columns, and the city matches the proportion of a Robot, who are now operating our lives (the dots). The magnification of scale has led to the isolation of human life.
The questions raised are, " Shouldn't we first shape city so that it shapes us better? Should a city be isolating or inviting? Life - Space - Buildings or vice-versa?
