"LaCle Avenue: Step into the Lobby" by Desi Petkova
The reception desk is behind the double doors. Keep going. You don’t see it? Of course, you don’t. Why do you need to be reminded that a lobby is a lobby? Let’s hide our conventionalities as we redefine convention. Focus on the clerestory above. You can’t. You’re in a procession of formal elements. Colonnade after colonnade. You’re walking through a rhythm, from and towards a new areal height. Are you climbing? No. Your feet are on the ground. Wall meets ceiling, ceiling meets wall. What’s height? At last, you’re right in front of the double doors. Step into the lobby. Don’t forget. It’s the lobby vestibule that got you there.
What was that about convention? Oh wait, formally speaking, you’re conventionally inspecting a conventional key in a non-conventional perspective of an architectural form. Perspective was built, but form was borrowed. All sketched by moi with my lovely color pencils set.
