"Anonymous architecture in Kea" by Alkiviadis Oikonomidis
What is architecture? Is it a good illustration? A feeling? A life container? Or life's background? For me architecture is an apprehension. An apprehension that we have today, for the things that we will leave behind in the future. An apprehension that is always connected with the present, the future and the past. This drawing is about a "Kathikia" in Kea island in Southern Aegean. A "Kathikia" is nothing more than a shelter from heat and cold from another era. An era without electricity and internet. An era that human and nature were closer with each other. This is exactly what we (the architects) nowadays seek in our designs. But this drawing shows the final phase of every construction... its return to the nature. The goal of this text is not to describe this tiny piece of art, the piece will say its story and its anonymous history by itself.
