"Planetarium 112a, Baikonur Cosmodrome" by Ildi Mali
The project aims to reuse abandoned buildings located in a specific area of the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The Site 112a preserves exactly the same existing design and the abandoned Shuttles inside. The intervention consists in rehabilitating the conditions of wear of the systems and the shuttles, to allow the design of a clean environment that acts as an authentic museum. This is a place used for the study and manufacture of the vehicles of the Soviet Cosmonauts. The additional design consists in the construction of an immense centrally suspended Planetarium, hooked to the existing cranes. This place will be internally set up with a territory that simulates the planet Mars, accompanied by the projection of space over the entire surface. Given the large volume, the simulation will allow to create a place that transports people to the red planet, without having to leave earth planet.
