"plants live here" by Rodrigo Marron
"plants live here" serves as a reminder for me of one of the takeaways from the 2020 global shelter-in-place: nature can bounce back when humans stop doing human things. The harbor settlement of Ostia Antica, Italy was abandoned in the 9th century AD-- today tall golden grasses and red poppy flowers cover its ruins. We don't have the luxury of time anymore nor can we continue to exist in the static, but necessary, state 2020 threw on us. However, we must remind ourselves that what ever forms, containers, and things we choose to build on our warming planet, plants live her too. Let us design for plants with as much consideration as we design for humans.
